In a year where cafe racers have been taking a more mainstream role, its great that BMW has finally released what seems like a lovely motorcycle. With touring options no less, so as to be eligible for our blog! I can see myself on a solo journey on various back roads on a motorcycle like this!

On Wednesday October 16th 2013 the BMW Museum in Munich provided a worthy setting for a very special anniversary in the company history of BMW AG: 90 years of BMW Motorrad. The climax of the event was the world premiere of the BMW R nineT.
The arrival of the new BMW R 1200 GS Adventure 2014 heralds the beginning of a new chapter in the success story of BMW Motorrad’s large, boxer-engine GS models that dates back more than 30 years. Since its debut in 2005, the big GS Adventure has been firmly established as the definitive machine for long-distance travel. It transports two-wheeled explorers to the farthest-flung corners of the world and allows them to keep pressing on when others have long since turned back.

I got an opportunity to put some distance on a BMW F650GS today. It was a good thing for me since I’d been getting the feeling of being cooped up at home. It also gave me the chance to get the branding tags off my new Tour Master boots, which I’ll write about separately.
