2023 Kells Ride Out – Sunday Spins

The 2023 Kells Ride Out was an exciting event for me. It would be the first event I was riding to in Ireland. It was supposed to be held in March 2023. Still, it got cancelled at the time. This annual gathering, held in the charming town of Kells, is in a county called Meath. So a good Sunday morning spin for me.

The ride-out occurred on a sunny summer day, with riders assembling at Park Ri in Kells. I barely washed my motorcycle, but I could quickly tell that people had been preparing their bikes for days. Engaging in friendly banter, I met a few friendly faces. Thanks to I’m that I met there, got onto a WhatsApp group now for Bikers in Ireland. The atmosphere was electric and noisy with revving engines. I miss having an inline-four, and the anticipation and excitement for the ride didn’t help. I had my insurance-friendly motorcycle learner “L” vest on for most of it. Still, other participants ranged from seasoned riders to newcomers eager to experience the thrill of riding in a group.

Keep the subtitles on, and there is some good footage of riding around Kells with other riders. Some really fast sportbikes turned up that day too.

I recorded some footage as I had made it a slightly longer ride than it should have been. It is with me heading towards the winding roads of the Boyne Valley and turns of the scenic countryside. Kells and its surroundings provide motorcyclists with various options for rides. Whether a leisurely cruise or an adrenaline-fueled adventure. I am not too happy with the audio and need to come up with a better solution for that.

Easily my favourite bike of the event. I did not get much information, but I would love to know more.

2023 Kells Ride Out: will I come back?

Of course. I have wanted to visit Kells, but it was mainly from the racing point of view. Never did I think I would ride all this way to ride a little more around town and then back. All for a good cause. As the engines roared to life, the first task was to clear the parking lot. That was a challenge in itself and reminded me of Indian traffic. The procession of motorcycles embarked on a scenic route that had been marked with volunteers and Garda. The roads meandered through lush green fields, ancient ruins, and picturesque villages, creating an idyllic backdrop for the ride out.

The riders formed a united front throughout the journey, cruising together in synchronized harmony. The sound of rumbling engines filled the air, blending with laughter and cheers. The convoy attracted the attention of locals and passersby, who lined the streets, clapped, and cheered to show their support.

As the ride out drew close, the riders returned, their faces beaming with satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment. Some of the riders went off to the pub while I stuck around. Met a few more people and eventually rode on towards one of the Photo Rally points in the next county.

The 2023 Kells Ride Out was a good motorcycle ride for me. It was also a testament to the enduring passion and community spirit of Irish motorcycling. It was obvious that it brought together individuals from diverse backgrounds. The only thing common was their love for the open road and the freedom of riding.
