Ride to Penaconda in Andhra Pradesh with The RD Owners Club, Bangalore

The RD owners Club, Bangalore has organised a ride this weekend to Penaconda in Andhra Pradesh. 16 entries have already been confirmed and the ride promises to be a blast. More details about this ride, after the jump.

When? We leave Bangalore on Saturday at 10:30AM, 26th June. Group up at one of the bylanes after Aditi (Talisma) software on Mekhri Circle Road, opposite Freeway 19. We will be riding on the Bangalore – Hyderabad highway, which is a good road but for patches in between where the Golden Quadrilateral project is going on.

Where to? Rajan Joshua’s farmhouse. Our host for the night is an ex-rally rider on the RD350 himself. He runs a NGO called SEDS now. The Social Educational and Development Society (SEDS) in the Penuconda Taluq of Ananthpur district has successfully used the tools of adult education, women’s empowerment, rural employment generation and polyculture afforestation to raise the ground water table dramatically. The place being pretty barren will be warm. Penuconda is a barren hill; that you can walk up from Rajan’s place.

What to expect? Rajan’s farm has a swimming pool for those who would like to cool off. Don’t forget your swimming trunks. Evenign tea, dinner and breakfast will be served.
MotoGP this weekend is at the cathedral of MotoGP racing in the Netherlands. The Dutch TT happens on Saturday and if Star Sports is going to telecast it live, then we can watch it together. What better company to watch it in, than a bunch of bikers after a long ride?
Sathya will be bringing along some slides from his 1991 trip in the Himalayas, when the roads there were almost non-existent. I have seen some of the photographs and they are mind-blowing. The slideshow promises to be great fun.

Accommodation will be in a dormitory. For those who want separate rooms, they are available at an extra price. If you would like to camp out, even that’s fine-but bring your own tents.

The ride is open to RD owners on their RDs only. If you’d like to register for the ride, please call Santosh on +919845442224 or Aditya on +919880025040.

More updates after the ride. Seeya then!
